Getting A Little Abstract

As I carry on furiously making work the Make It In Design’s Ultimate Portfolio Builder course the subject has turned to geometric and abstract patterns.

To try and add to the spontaneity to the designs I’ve been working with paper cut outs of various shapes and colours. Working like this helps add a sense of playful randomness to the designs which is often hard to do by creating a carefully considered piece. Scatter the cut outs at random and voila! Or maybe “No I don’t like that one” and try again but you get the gist!

From these exercises I’ve created a few pieces I’m really pleased with so I will be expending these into full collections. These would work really well with clothing, interiors and packaging.
