The Power of Re-Colouring

This morning I have been carrying out a really interesting re-colouring exercise as part of the Make It In Design course. I have taken a fairly simple design of mine (Pine Slopes) and changed the colour palettes to fit in with the different genres of pattern design. These being: Classic, Traditional, Vintage, Retro, Contemporary and Futuristic. It is quite amazing how much a design can change simply by using different colours.

One of the things I love about pattern design is the versatility. A pattern can be re-born into a totally new context just by a little jiggle with the colouring. Using the extremely powerful Recolor Artwork tool on Abode Illustrator makes the process easy and utterly inspiring!
